I
ndustrie 4.0 kristallisiert
sich mehr und mehr als
entscheidender Faktor im
Wettlauf um Spitzentech-
nologie und Marktanteile der
Zukunft heraus. Und die Zeit
drängt für den deutschen Ma-
schinen- und Anlagebau.
Auf der einen Seite der Welt
stehen die USA mit ihrer ausge-
prägten Softwarekompetenz und
nicht zuletzt ihrem digitalen En-
trepreneurship, wenn es um neue
Geschäftsmodelle geht. Auf der
anderen Seite steckt China mit
den Programmen "Made in China
2025" und "Internet Plus" erheb-
liche Ressourcen in die digitale
Transformation. Trotz der guten
Startposition, die sich deutsche
Unternehmen erarbeitet haben,
können sie sich also auf keinen
Fall auf ihren Erfolgen ausruhen.
Entsprechend rücken die VDMA-
Fachverbände Mess- und Prüftech-
nik sowie Präzisionswerkzeuge
Ideen und Produkte aus dem In-
dustrie 4.0-Umfeld in den Fokus.
Am VDMA-Stand (Halle 4 / D44)
kommen vom 19. bis 21. Septem-
ber dazu Mitgliedsunternehmen
und Partner aus der Forschung in
30 kurzen Vorträgen zu Wort. Da-
bei stehen konkrete technische
Umsetzungen aus den Bereichen
Präzisionswerkzeuge, Mess- und
Prüftechnik, Forschung und Werk-
zeugdatenaustausch im Mittel-
punkt.
"Wir wollen auf dem VDMA-Fo-
rum zeigen, welche Lösungen un-
sere Branchen anbieten, um das
Konzept Industrie 4.0 in der be-
trieblichen Praxis umzusetzen",
erklärt Markus Heseding, Ge-
schäftsführer der beiden Fachver-
bände "Wir haben bereits positive
Erfahrungen mit einem solchen
Forum gemacht und freuen uns
schon auf zahlreiche Zuhörer."
Konkret informiert die Veran-
staltung "Innovative Lösungen
für Industrie 4.0" unter ande-
rem über intelligente Spann-
systeme und darüber, wie durch
Vernetzung von Werkzeugen und
Software Fertigungsprozesse si-
muliert, Werkzeuglebenszyklen
überwacht und Kosten gesenkt
werden. Es wird vor Ort verdeut-
licht, wie die selbstüberwachende
Werkzeugmaschine die Qualitäts-
sicherungsprozesse unterstützt
oder was eine automatisierte
Messzelle im Produktionsprozess
mit Industrie 4.0 leistet. Beiträ-
ge aus den Unternehmen bieten
einen Einblick zu hochentwickel-
ter Messtechnik und Präzisions-
werkzeugen für anspruchsvolle
Aufgaben. Über die Vorteile stan-
dardisierter Werkzeugdaten für
Simulation, Werkzeugverwaltung
und -voreinstellung wird ebenso
referiert wie über die Forschung
der Hochschulen.
Im VDMA-Forum treten folgen-
de Unternehmen und Hochschulen
auf: Cimsource, Diatest, Emuge,
Etalon, Fagor Automation, Fraisa,
Gühring, Haimer-Microset, Hain-
buch, Iscar, Kelch, Mahr, Mima-
tic, Oberndorfer Präzisions-Werk,
OSG, Römheld, Sandvik, Tekon
Prüftechnik, promicron, Vargus,
Fraunhofer-Institut für Produk-
tionstechnologie Aachen, GFE-
Schmalkalden, Hochschule Bre-
men, TU Dortmund, Universität
Bayreuth.
Tool and metrological
technology indispensable
for Industry 4.0
I
ndustry 4.0 is progres-
sively emerging as the
crucial factor in the race
for leading-edge technol-
ogy and market shares in the fu-
ture. And time is running out for
the German machinery and plant
manufacturers.
On one side of the world is the
USA, with its exceptional software
competence and not least its digi-
tal entrepreneurship when it comes
to new business models. On the
other side of the globe is China,
which with its "Made in China
2025" and "Internet Plus" pro-
grammes is channelling substantial
resources into digital transforma-
tion. So despite the good starting
position that German companies
have created for themselves, they
would be well advised not to rest
on their laurels.
The German Mechanical Engi-
neering Industry Association's
(VDMA) Metrological and Testing
Technology and High-Precision
Tools will accordingly be spotlight-
ing ideas and products from the
Industry 4.0 environment. At the
VDMA's stand (Hall 4 / D44), mem-
ber companies and partners from
the re-search community will from
19 to 21 September be contribut-
ing 30 brief presentations, focusing
primarily on high-precision tools,
metrological and testing technol-
ogy, research, and tool data inter-
change.
"At the VDMA forum, we shall
be aiming to show what solutions
our sectors are offering in order to
translate the concept of Industry
4.0 into shop-floor reality," ex-
plains Markus Heseding, Executive
Director of the two associations.
"We already have a good track re-
cord with a forum of this kind, and
are looking forward to a high at-
tendance."
Specifically, the "Innovative
Solutions for Industry 4.0" event
will be informing its participants
on issues like intelligent clamp-
ing systems and how production
processes can be simulated by
networking tools and software,
tool life-cycles monitored, and
costs reduced. The presentations
there will elucidate how the self-
monitoring machine tool support
the quality assurance processes
involved, or what an automated
measuring cell can achieve in a
production process featuring In-
dustry 4.0. Contributions from
the companies concerned offer
insights into highly sophisticated
metrological technology and high-
precision tools for challenging
tasks. The presentations will cover
the advantages of standardised
tool data for simulations, tool
management and presetting, as
well as the research work being
performed at the universities.
The following companies and
universities will be presented at
the VDMA's event: Cimsource, Di-
atest, Emuge, Etalon, Fagor Auto-
mation, Fraisa, Gühring, Haimer-
Microset, Hainbuch, Iscar, Kelch,
Mahr, Mimatic, Oberndorfer Präzi-
sions-Werk, OSG, Römheld, Sand-
vik, Tekon Prüftechnik, promicron,
Vargus, Fraunhofer Institute for
Production Technology in Aachen,
GFE-Schmalkalden, Bremen Univer-
sity, TU Dortmund, Bayreuth Uni-
versity.
