Digitalisierung
schreitet voran und
die Elektronik hält in
immer mehr Lebens-
bereiche Einzug. Die Funktio-
nalität der Geräte wird dabei
im Wesentlichen auch von der
Leiterplatte bestimmt.
Auf dem PCB & EMS Market-
place und dem Highlight-Tag
„Zukunftsfähige EMS“ in Halle
B3 zeigen Leiterplattenhersteller
und EMS-Dienstleister an Hand
konkreter Anwendungsbeispiele
aus der Automobilindustrie, Me-
dizintechnik, Industrieelektronik
und dem Maschinenbau wie sie
wachsenden Anforderungen be-
gegnen. Die productronica findet
vom 14. bis 17. November 2017
auf dem Gelände der Messe Mün-
chen statt.
Der Umsatz der Leiterplat-
tenbranche in der DACH Region
wächst rasant. Im Vergleich zum
Vorjahr steigerte sich der Wert
im März 2017 um 13,6 Prozent.
Insgesamt schloss das erste
Quartal acht Prozent über dem
Vorjahreszeitraum ab, berichtet
der ZVEI-Fachverband PCB and
Electronic Systems. Umsatz und
Auftragseingang erlangten die
höchsten Absolutwerte seit 15
Jahren. Insbesondere Unterneh-
men der Automobilindustrie hat-
ten Aufträge, die an asiatische
Unternehmen verloren waren,
kurzfristig zurückgeholt. Ursache
waren dortige Lieferengpässe bei
Kupferfolien.
High-Tech-Leiterplatten
aus Europa
Asien vereint 91 Prozent des
globalen PCB-Umsatzes auf sich,
Amerika trägt noch 5 Prozent und
Europa die restlichen 4 Prozent
bei. Neben massenproduzier-
ten Leiterplatten fordern aber
Medizintechnik, Militär sowie
Luft- und Raumfahrt zunehmend
komplexere Baugruppen wie HDI-
(High-Density-Interconnect), fle-
xible und Starrflex-Leiterplatten.
Eine Chance für High-Tech-PCBs
aus Europa, denn hier punkten
Qualität, Stabilität, Flexibilität
und Beratungsleistung.
Ein Beispiel ist die Posalux SA
aus Biel, die als Aussteller der
ersten Stunde auch auf der pro-
ductronica 2017 ihre hochpräzi-
sen Bohr- und Fräsmaschinen für
die Leiterplattenfertigung dem
internationalen
Fachpublikum
vorstellen wird. Mit der Ultra-
speed DUO zeigt das Schweizer
Unternehmen eine neue Maschi-
nengeneration, die alle Aufgaben
vom Prototypenbau über das Her-
stellen größerer Serien bis hin zur
Bearbeitung höchst anspruchs-
voller Leiterplatten leistet.
Ebenfalls aus dem Land der
Präzisionszeitmesser kommt der
Leiterplattenhersteller
Cicor
Technologies. Mit DenciTec fertigt
eine neue Technologieplattform
Schaltkreise mit extrem hoher
Dichte. Neue Funktionen sind so
integrierbar ohne die Leiterplat-
te zu vergrößern. Im günstigsten
Fall können durchschnittlich bis
zu 70 Prozent der Fläche über alle
Lagen eingespart werden.
Immer kleinere Strukturen in
und auf den Leiterplatten mit
einer zunehmenden Anzahl von
Bauteilen stellen Test-Spezialis-
ten wie Seica Spa aus Italien vor
völlig neue Herausforderungen.
Zum einen muss sichergestellt
werden, dass eingebettete Bau-
teile nicht beschädigt werden.
Zum anderen lassen Miniaturisie-
rung und der verstärkte Einsatz
von Hochfrequenztechnologien
kaum mehr Platz für Testpunkte.
Das Pilot-V8-System von Seica
verbindet Flying-Probe-Technolo-
gie mit Hochfrequenz-Tests.
Die Digitalisierung, Mechatro-
nisierung, Automatisierung sowie
die Mensch-Roboter-Kollaborati-
on (MRK) werden die industrielle
Fertigung grundlegend wandeln.
Davon profitieren Unternehmen
wie Schunk aus Lauffen, die an
einem Nutzentrenner zeigen,
wie intelligente Greifer ohne den
Einsatz externer Sensorik die Lei-
terplattenproduktion optimieren
können.
EMS: Von der Produktidee
bis zum System
Der steigende Bedarf an elek-
tronischen Geräten über ver-
schiedenste Industrien hinweg
beschert auch 2017 den EMS-
Dienstleistern ein dynamisches
Umfeld. Laut Untersuchungen
des Beratungshauses MP Cor-
porate Finance bieten sich die
größten Wachstumschancen im
Automotive- und Lighting-Sektor
durch den steigenden Bedarf an
Connectivity und „smarter“ Elek-
tronik.
Dazu müssen die Auftragsferti-
ger als „One stop shop“ gleicher-
massen Kompetenzen im Design,
Engineering und der Herstellung
vorweisen und Produkte von der
Idee bis hin zu After-Sales-Servi-
ces begleiten. Mit der Zunahme
an Dienstleistungen wandern ei-
nige EMS-Fertiger dabei in neue
Geschäftsmodelle wie JDM (Joint
Design Manufacturing) und ODM
(Outsourced Design Manufactu-
ring).
PCB & EMS Marketplace
und Highlight-Tag
„Zukunftsfähige EMS“
Die Unternehmen haben sich
in den letzten Jahren bereits
stark verändert. Sie treten zu-
nehmend als „Problemlöser“ auf,
übernehmen Leistungen wie etwa
den Materialeinkauf und bie-
ten sich sogar als Partner in der
Produkteinführungsphase an. An
neuen Herausforderungen man-
gelt es allerdings nicht. Neben
Fortschritten in der Leiterplat-
ten-Technologie und der zuneh-
menden Miniaturisierung zwingen
globale Entwicklungen wie stei-
gende Rohstoffkosten, weltweite
Krisen oder wachsender Konkur-
renzdruck zu ständigen Anpas-
sungen. Letztlich werden sich
Auftragsfertiger mit besserem
Service und anspruchsvolleren
Produkten – geliefert mit noch
nie da gewesener Geschwindig-
keit – positionieren müssen. Und
das bei gleichzeitiger Kontrolle
der Kosten und nachhaltiger Fer-
tigung.
Der PCB & EMS Cluster mit dem
Highlight-Tag „Zukunftsfähige
EMS“ bietet eine optimale Platt-
form für den inhaltlichen Dialog
und Networking der gesamten
PCB- und EMS-Branche. Ausstel-
ler, Besucher und Partner können
sich hier treffen, austauschen
und den richtigen Anbieter für
ihre Anforderungen finden.
International Meeting
Place for the PCB and
EMS Industry
D
igitalization is pro-
gressing and electron-
ics is making its way
into more and more
areas of life. In this context,
the functionality of the devices
is essentially determined by
the circuit board.
At the PCB & EMS Marketplace
and on the highlight day “Sus-
tainable EMS” in Hall B3, manu-
facturers of printed circuit boards
and EMS providers will show con-
crete examples of how they are
meeting increasing requirements
in the automotive industry, medi-
cal technology, industrial elec-
tronics and mechanical engineer-
ing. productronica will take place
on the grounds of Messe München
from November 14 to 17, 2017.
Sales of the printed circuit
board industry in the DACH coun-
tries are increasing rapidly. Com-
pared to the previous year, the
value increased by 13.6 percent
in March 2017. Overall, the first
quarter total finished eight per-
cent above the same period last
year, as reported by the ZVEI as-
sociation PCB and Electronic Sys-
tems. Sales and incoming orders
achieved the highest absolute
values in 15 years. Especially
companies within the automo-
tive industry regained jobs in the
short term that had been lost to
Asian companies. Local supply
shortages in copper films were
the cause.
High-tech circuit boards
from Europe
Asia accounts for 91 percent of
global PCB sales, America 5 per-
cent and Europe the remaining
4 percent. In addition to mass-
produced printed circuit boards,
however, medical systems, the
military and aerospace increas-
ingly require complex assemblies
such as HDI (high density-inter-
connect), flexible and rigid-flex
circuit boards. This is a chance
for high-tech PCBs from Europe,
because they score with quality,
stability, flexibility, and consult-
ing services.
An example is Posalux SA from
Biel, which has been a produc-
tronica exhibitor since the launch
of the trade fair. It will present its
high-precision drilling and milling
machines for PCB manufacturing
to the international audience in
2017. With the Ultraspeed DUO,
the Swiss company is demon-
strating a new machine genera-
tion that performs all tasks from
prototyping to the manufacture
of larger series and all the way
machining of the most demand-
ing printed circuit boards.
The circuit board manufacturer
Cicor Technologies also comes
from the country of precision
timepieces. With DenciTec, a new
technology platform manufac-
tures circuits with extremely high
density. Using it, new functions
can be integrated without in-
creasing the circuit board size. In
the best case, an average of up
to 70 percent of the area can be
saved over all layers.
Increasingly smaller structures
in and on circuit boards with an
increasing number of components
present completely new chal-
lenges for test specialists such
as Seica Spa from Italy. On the
one hand, it must be ensured
that embedded components are
not damaged. On the other hand,
miniaturization and the increased
use of high-frequency technolo-
gies leave little space for test
points. The Seica Pilot V8 system
combines flying probe technology
with high frequency tests.
Digitalization, mechatronics,
automation and human-robot
collaboration (MRC) will funda-
mentally transform industrial
manufacturing. Companies such
Schunk from Lauffen benefit from
this and demonstrate on a single
depaneling machine how intelli-
gent grippers can optimize circuit
board production without the use
of external sensor technology.
EMS: from the product idea
to a system
The growing demand for elec-
tronic devices across a wide
range of industries will also
provide the EMS service provid-
ers with a dynamic environment
in 2017. According to investiga-
tions conducted by the consulting
company MP Corporate Finance,
the largest growth opportunities
are in the automotive and light-
ing sectors thanks to the increas-
ing demand for connectivity and
“smart” electronics.
To this end, the contract manu-
facturers must demonstrate as a
“one-stop shop” the same high
level of skills in design, engi-
neering and manufacturing and
be involved in products from the
idea to after-sales services. With
the increase in services, some
EMS manufacturers are moving
into new business models such
as JDM (Joint Design Manufactur-
ing) and ODM (Outsourced Design
Manufacturing).
PCB & EMS Marketplace
and highlight day
“Sustainable EMS”
The companies have already
changed considerably in recent
years. They increasingly work as
“problem solvers”, handle ser-
vices such as the purchase of
materials and even offer them-
selves as partners in the product
launch phase. However, there is
no lack of new challenges. In
addition to advances in circuit
board technology and increasing
miniaturization, global develop-
ments such as rising raw mate-
rial costs, global crises and grow-
ing competitive pressures require
continual adjustments. Ulti-
mately, contract manufacturers
will have to position themselves
with better service and more so-
phisticated products delivered
with unprecedented speed. In
addition, they will have to do
this with simultaneous control
of costs and sustainable produc-
tion.
The PCB & EMS cluster with the
highlight day “Sustainable EMS”
provides an optimal platform for
meaningful discussions and net-
working for the entire PCB and
EMS industry. Exhibitors, visitors
and partners can meet there, ex-
change information and find the
right supplier for their require-
ments.
